The Essentials

It's like leaving the house. Keys, wallet and phone are essential. In much the same way, here are the items you can't afford to forget to bring when cruising.

Documentation

Proof of citizenship: Passport, driver's license, and/or birth certificate

Cruise Vacation Documents: Boarding passes, cruise confirmation and even your flight information

Medical documents: Prescription list, insurance card, and relevant vaccination information pertinent to your ports of call.

Use your phone and take pictures of your documents just in case any are lost!

For more exotic cruise destinations, a list of your medical history can be useful.

During your boarding process

You'll be saying 'goodbye' to all of your luggage for quite a while. Be prepared!

Have a carry-on, like a backpack or tote bag

Your carry-on may just make the difference between an enjoyable on-board experience or a frustrating one.

Sunglasses
Flip-flops or sandals
Sunscreen
Map of the ship from the cruise line's web site
Change of clothes appropriate for the weather
Basic first aid kit or at the minimum band-aids, and pain medicine like Tylenol, Aleve, etc.
Toiletries: wet wipes, deodorant, body spray, etc.
